There has been an on-going survey on the Institute of Videography site for its members.

The question is: "What marketing or promotional activity generated your last commission?"

Top three responses totaling 84% were: 

1) Word of mouth

2) Website

3) Repeat business.

All other forms of advertising from print ads to pay-for-click and social media were each in the very low percentiles.

I thought so.

I stopped paying for advertising some time back.

1-3 above were true for me as well.
